Marine Life in the Rainbow Reef

Never snorkeled but have always  wondered what it is like to marvel at marine life up-close? The Rainbow Reef at the Marine Life Park (MLP)’s Adventure Cove Waterpark gives you that opportunity.  You no longer  need to travel to neighbouring countries like Thailand or Indonesia to snorkel to enjoy intimate encounters with  over 100 species of marine animals in their psychedelic coral reef home.

We highlight four eye-catching species that are vibrantly colourful. Keep your eyes peeled though, because they have camouflaging abilities that make it a challenge to spot them!

Biswajit Guha: The Animal Guy

It takes a certain kind of love of animals to be the Director of the Education and Conservation team at the Marine Life Park; it is a whole other level to hug animals even when you’re allergic to them. Introducing Biswajit Guha, a man who has worked with animals for nearly two decades – despite being allergic to feline saliva. He shares with us his passion, his work and why he would love to be the “Reverso Ranger”.

Guo Zhiping, an intern at Subic Bay, had a childhood question: how to differentiate two animals of the same species from one another, like an elephant from the others within a herd.

He has found the answer – more or less – with dolphins.

“Looking out for certain parts of the dolphins, like the differences in the pectoral fins and dorsal fins, helps to distinguish them within a group,” he says proudly.
